Overview

The National Account Manager is a demanding and exciting role. National Accounts is a key growth area for apetito's care homes team and this is a senior sales position, reporting to the Deputy General Manager.  

 

We are looking for an ambitious and pro-active sales professional with a growth mindset, entrepreneurial flair and the ability to engage from kitchen to the boardroom.  

This role is focused on creating new trading relationships with large care groups within the UK care sector. 

Implementing the agreed strategy for the Care Homes Business Unit, the National Account Manager will set out clear objectives to accelerate growth and deliver outstanding execution of these.

 

You will utilise your networking skills to find opportunities, create relationships, negotiate and close sales agreements and build partnerships with your customers. 

Professionalism and credibility will be important for your success in this role.

Responsibilities

The National Account Manager will be responsible for identifying and winning new business in the UK Care Homes marketplace.

 

  • Seek out and win large national account business
  • Provide Sales Manager, National Accounts with accurate forecasting of new business
  • Update and maintain company CRM system (Hubspot)
  • Build their profile in the industry through effective networking channels and becoming the face of apetito
  • Work with marketing to design and execute marketing strategies in line with growth targets
  • Collaboration with other business areas, specifically: Finance, Regional Teams and Marketing
  • Deliver against sales and activity KPIs

About you

Essential:

  • Credibility in a B2B sales environment, working with complex, high value B2B customers.
  • Ownership for end to end process of tendering for and closing large value accounts or ongoing sales commitments
  • Proven experience of achieving and exceeding sales targets
  • Consultative, solutions-led sales experience, not hard product sell
  • Good commercial acumen, including involvement in business cases
  • Experience of negotiation
  • Adept at managing objections/ resistance to change/ financial issues
  • Collaborates with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve joint successes
  • Good networking experience
  • Great organisational skills, able to manage multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

  • Experience of food/nutritional standards
  • Experience of the Care Sector
  • Degree qualification within a business related discipline
  • Food Hygiene training

Due to the geography of this role and the nature of working with customers in care homes settings, flexibility with working hours will be needed.  

Travel to customers and events across the country, including overnight stays, will be a regular requirement - typically 1-2 nights per week.  

A company car is provided to facilitate this and a clean (or virtually clean) driving licence is essential. 

 

As this role involves working with elderly and vulnerable customers, it is exempt from The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and requires a Basic DBS Disclosure.
