Overview

This role offers a fantastic opportunity for a Dietitian looking to establish a career with a company where great food and nutrition is an integral part of the business. Reporting directly to the Senior Dietitian, you will have an exciting role supporting nutrition standards and ensuring we make a real difference to our customers and business through the application of evidence-based nutrition.

 

Based in the New Product Development (NPD) team, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering outstanding nutrition and dietetic support across all key areas of our business including Healthcare, Care Homes, Education and Wiltshire Farm Foods. As such, this role will directly impact and support the nutritional well-being of all our customers including those in hospital, care home residents, children in school and customers in their own homes.

 

This role will work closely NPD, Marketing & PR, and the Specialist Nutrition team while also supporting colleagues in business and support roles. This will involve supporting national exhibitions/trade shows and attending food and nutrition conferences. Training and support will be provided.

 

This is a rare opportunity for a dietitian looking to utilise and expand on their skills in PR and Marketing whilst also applying their nutrition expertise to food development.

 

While based at our Head Office in Trowbridge, this role does suit a blended working style of office and remote working.

Responsibilities

Business Unit support and customer service

  • Customer facing support to our business unit teams across all sectors of the business including Healthcare, Wiltshire Farm Foods, Care homes, Schools and Community meals. Including presentations, responding to customer queries ,  menu development & planning and nutrition training.
  • Manage dietary and nutrition information in brochures (e.g. Wiltshire Farm Foods special diets guide).
  • Support Business unit teams at key conferences and trade shows.
  • Liaise regularly with dietitians and other healthcare professionals to provide direct support and advice on apetito products, systems and service and to build strong customer relationships.
  • Engage with customers and consumers to stimulate and identify new opportunities .

Product development

  • Work closely with colleagues to identify, research and manage new product development opportunities that create competitive advantage and maintain  or improve appropriate nutrition standards
  • Specify nutrition and diet parameters for new and improved products and ensure these are met.
  • Ensure all Health and Nutrition claims are compliant with current legislation.
  • Work closely with the Specialist Nutrition team to define special diet specifications and briefs.

 

Staff training and support

  • Strive to continually raise the nutrition and dietary expertise in our business. (e.g. through training programmes for new product launches , inductions and across our Wiltshire Farm Foods network).

 

Policy and practice

  • Keep apetito up-to-date with nutrition and diet activities and trends (particularly in our key markets) and proactively drive related policies and reviews.
  • Maintain nutrition standards across all sectors of the business including healthcare, Wiltshire Farm Foods, care homes and community meals.
  • Challenge current practice with a view to gaining competitive advantage through nutrition and diet improvements.
  • Contribure externally in nutrition areas of  strategic importance to the company (external professional Associations)

Marketing and public relations

  • Support marketing activities requiring nutrition and diet input (e.g. attend key multiplier conferences & trade shows, support P.R. activities, produce articles for newsletters and other publications and advise on marketing strategies from a diet, health and nutrition perspective)

About you

Essential:

  • Dietitian, with a BSc/MSc equivalent in Dietetics, or a post-graduate qualification.
  • Registered with the UK Health and Care Professions Council
  • Member of the British Dietetic Association
  • Full driving licence
  • Clinical dietetic experience (Band 5), ideally including care of the elderly and experience supporting people living with dysphagia.

 

Desirable:

  • Experience practicing and working as a dietitian at a senior level (NHS band 6 or above).
  • Experience of working with/alongside hospital catering departments and/or as a Food Service Dietitian.
  • Food manufacturing, product development or catering experience.
  • BDA specialist group member e.g. the Food Services Specialist Group or Older Person’s Specialist Group
  • Knowledge and working experience of nutritional standards in hospitals, care homes, education settings including early years and local authority settings in the UK
  • Knowledge of public health nutrition guidelines and/or School Food Standards
  • Food hygiene certificate

  • Able to communicate with and work well with colleagues and customers at a wide variety of levels – you will need to be able to communicate complex nutrition messages and information relating to our products effectively to people with minimal baseline understanding all the way through to people who are experts in these areas
