Overview

Due to a secondment arising in the team, we are seeking to appoint a financial accounts assistant on a 7 month fixed term contract.


Key duties and responsibilities include preparation of monthly journals and balance sheet reconciliations, review of fixed assets and leases, and assisting with month end procedures and year end audit.


This is a great opportunity to work in a supportive and friendly finance team and would suit an experienced, highly organised individual who can prioritise well, is keen to learn, and has great attention to detail.

Responsibilities

 

  • Prepare monthly journals and support the month end close
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, including inter-company balances.
  • Maintain the lease management database and fixed asset register
  • Assisting with monthly VAT returns and statutory reporting obligations
  • Support audit processes by providing accurate documentation and responses 
  • Provide analytical support for ad-hoc queries and enquiries

About you

Essential:

  • Planning and organisation - must be able to plan and organise daily/weekly tasks, prioritise appropriately and ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Delivering results and meeting customer expectations - bringing together all required qualities to deliver results whilst exceeding the expectations of both internal and external customers.
  • Building relationships - able to build strong relationships with both internal and external customers.
  • GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English.
  • Previous experience of working within an office environment.
  • Previous experience of dealing with customers in both written and verbal formats.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook packages.
  • Able to demonstrate a high degree of accuracy.

  • Learning and development - makes use of day to day experiences to further their understanding of the role and looks to gain relevant training where possible.
  • Flexibility - adopts a flexible approach to working in order to cope with day to day setbacks and obstacles whilst maintaining a positive outlook during periods of high pressure.
  • Analytical - capable of analysing all forms of data including numerical and verbal in order to reach rational judgements from the information received. Able to form workable solutions to tasks and problems.
  • Business studies or finance qualification.
  • Part or fully AAT qualified.
  • Previous experience of working within a finance role.
  • Experience of working with SAP accounting packages.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel to an advanced level.
